Introduction to Anren Ancient Town  (安仁古镇)

Anren Ancient Town is one of the famous historic and cultural towns in Sichuan Province. The town is situated 41 kilometers away from Chengdu. Originally founded in Tang Dynasty, Anren Ancient Town is especially charmed by the elegant and mixed styled ancient architectures.

At Anren Ancient Town, there are three ancient streets, Jianchuan Museum group and 27 mansions well preserved, which were constructed during the Qing Dynasty and the Republican Era of China. Among these manors, the most famous one is the Liu’s Manor. The Liu’s Manor was the former residence of Liu Wencai, who was a rich landlord at the Republican Era of China. This manor covers an area of 70,000 with a housing of 27,000 cultural relics. Besides its large scale, the manor is also highlighted by its mixed style of Chinese and western. 

Besides the Liu’s Manor, the Jianchuan Museum is another featured scenic spot in Anren Ancient Town. The museum is the largest folk museum in China and it was founded by Fan Jianchuan, a rich businessman and collector in Sichuan Province. The Jianchuan Museum group is consisted of 25 museums and has a collection of more than 8 million pieces of artifacts.

Admission: Entrance to Anren Ancient Town is free, however there are fees to enter some museums and mansions.

Travel Tips 

1. Try to avoid visiting Anren Ancient Town during Golden Week and summer holidays where the crowds and number of visitors will be substantially higher than usual.
