Introduction to Banpo Neolithic Village Banpo Neolithic Village is situated in the Yellow River Valley east of Xian. The village contains remains of carbon dated settlements which can date back 6,700 years. Banpo Neolithic Village is located 3 miles from Xian and the museum on site was officially opened to the public in 1958. The Banpo Village is a typical Neolithic community that stems from Yangshao Culture. The Banpo people used tools made from wood and stone with women responsible for making pottery, spinning and looking after the family, while men fished. |
