Introduction to Beijing Olympic Stadium (北京国家体育馆)
The Beijing Olympic Stadium, also known as the Birds’s Nest is located in the Olympic Green Village. The stadium was designed for the 2008 Beijing Olympic Games and since the end of the games it is now used as a center for international and domestic sport competitions and recreational activities. The main designers behind this amazing Beijing Olympic Stadium architecture was Swiss architects Jacques Herzog , Pierre de Meuron and Chinese architect Li Xinggang. Prior to China’s winning bid for the 2008 Olympic games, designs for the stadium was selected in 2001 and Li Xinggang’s Bird’s Nest design concept was selected. |
