Introduction to Diaoyutai State Guesthouse (钓鱼台国宾馆)

Diaoyutai State Guesthouse is one of the most notable landmarks built in 1959 to mark the 10th anniversary of the establishment of People’s Republic of China. Diaoyutai Guesthouse was used exclusively for foreign officials and government officials of China. The guesthouse has also been named as one of the 10 Great Buildings.

Diaoyutai State Guesthouse covers a total area of 430,000 square meters that includes a lake that covers 51,000 square meters and 250,000 square meters of green land. There is a total of 16 villas and two ancient architecture complexes. The villas and ancient architecture complexes are located around the lake.

In autumn the Gingko Avenue which is located right beside the Diaoyutai State Guesthouse is full of tourists capturing the wonderful scenery of the golden Gingko leaves. The avenue is covered with crisp leaves that have fallen from the Gingko trees and is the symbol of Beijing’s autumn.

Transportation 

1. The easiest way to reach Diaoyutai State Guesthouse if you are near Tiananmen Square is to take Subway Line 1, getting off at Muxi Station, leave via exit A1.

Travel Tips 

1. Try to avoid visiting Diaoyutai State Guesthouse during Golden Week and summer holidays where the crowds and number of visitors will be substantially higher than usual.

2. If you want to see the Gingko Avenue in autumn, make sure you visit between the end of October or the beginning of November.
