Introduction to Famen Temple Famen Temple is situated in Famen Town which is 120 kilometers from Xian. The history of Famen Temple dates back to the Eastern Han Dynasty and is famous for its preservation of the finger bone of Sakyamuni. After several restorations and reconstructions, the current Famen Temple applies the classic layout of Buddhist temple with pagoda in the front and Buddhist halls in the back. The main architectures in Famen Temple include Pagoda, Namaste Dagoba, Underground Palace, Famen Temple Museum, Buddhist College and Foguang Avenue. Apart from the Buddha’s relics, there are also relics of gold and silver, colored glaze, ceramics, silk and figure of Buddha preserved in the temple. The classical and magnificent architectures of Famen Temple and cultural relics are worth seeing for tourists when visiting Xian. |
