Introduction to the Museum of the Mausoleum of the Nanyue King (西汉南越王墓博物馆)
The Museum of the Mausoleum of the Nanyue King is based on the tomb site of the second Nanyue King, Zhao Mei, who was the second ruler of the Nanyue State of the Western Han Dynasty (260 B.C – 24 A.D.). The tomb of the Nanyue King was discovered in 1983 and the museum of the tomb site was opened in 1988. Named a Major National Historical Site in 1996, the Museum of the Mausoleum of the Nanyue King is reputed for its rare collections of funerary artifacts and cultural relics representing the diffusion of cultures in Lingnan area of Nanyue during the Han Dynasty. |
