Introduction to Hami King’s Mausoleum (哈密回王陵)

The Hami King’s Mausoleum is located in Hami and has been the burial site for the past Islamic Kings of Hami since the Qing Dynasty. The mausoleum is made up of three sections: Main Chamber, Side Chamber with 5 wood pavilions and the Grand Mosque.
The Main Chamber was built during the reign of Emperor Guangxu. The Main Chamber are the tombs of the 7th Prince Boxier and 8th Prince Mohamed along with their wives and 40 other members of family. The Side Chamber were burial tombs for other princes. The Grand Mosque was built during the 35th year reign of Emperor Kangxi of the Qing Dynasty.

The mausoleum is designed with green and white patterned tiles and has a grandeur essence with colorful paintings. There is another mausoleum which is located right opposite but is larger in size. There are 108 wooden pillars with intricate carvings and flower patterns with extracts from the Koran.
