Introduction to Huangyao Ancient Town (黄姚古镇) Huangyao Ancient Town is one of the most popular tourist destinations for tourists traveling for their Guilin tours. It is located in northeast of Zhaoping County, about 200 kilometers away from Guilin. With a history of hundreds years, the historical and cultural Huangyao Ancient Town attracts numerous tourists fir its fabulous scenery and rich historical sites.
Huangyao was built in the Ming Dynasty, and reached its prime during the reign of Emperor Qianlong (1736-1795) of the Qing Dynasty (1644-1911). The family names of the local people were mainly Huang and Yao, hence the town. Yet, despite that greater exposure, the venerable town remains peaceful, still exuding a certain mystique. |

Travel Tips 1. Recommended duration for a visit is about three hours. 2. Recommended local dishes: Huangyao tofu (stuffed bean curd and bean curd, both should try), fresh mushroom, mushroom fried rice cake, and Huangyao lobster sauce (for seasoning).
