Introduction to Jinli Street

Jinli Street that is located in the east of the Wuhou Memorial Temple is one of the oldest commercial streets in China, and the most famous street in Chengdu. As the must-see attraction when travel to Chengdu, Jinli Street is a great place to experience the authentic Chengdu culture, customs, and folk arts.

The Jinli Street is about 550 meters long. Along the street, there are lining ancient architectures including residences, teahouses, inns, stages, wine bars, and stores. These architectures are built on the Chinese traditional styles of the Qing Dynasty. These ancient architectures are remainders of the glorious history of the Jinli Street and are bound to display the ancient charm. But Jinli Street also shows the ambience of the modern Chengdu as there are bars, cafes, and nightclubs to have fun.

To learn and appreciate the local folklore, you may want to watch some interesting shows in the stage in Jinli Street. The classic Sichuan Operas are the must-see. Also puppet show and folk music are worth seeing. In the stores and stalls along the Jinli Street, tourists can see and buy the exquisite handcrafts. Paper cuts, clay figures, facial makeups, and many handicrafts are displayed and they are definitely great souvenirs.

Jinli Street is also a wonderful place to try local food and snacks. There are restaurants and stalls where you can taste delicious Sichuan food like Mapo Tofu, Kung Pao Chicken, Tofu Pudding, and Clear Rice Noodles.
