Introduction to Jinsha Site Museum (金沙遗址博物馆)

Jinsha Site Museum is specially built to display and protect the archeological discoveries of Jinsha Site, which was discovered in 2001. Jinsha Site Museum is located in Qingyang District, about 7 kilometers from the center of Chengdu, Sichuan Province. The museum covers about 38,000 square meters and is consisted of four main parts including Relics Hall, Exhibition Hall, Cultural Heritage Protection Center and Ecological Garden. The museum is actually a large park to combine the Jinsha Site and Jinsha Site Museum with beautiful green environment and modern facilities.

The unearthed Jinsha Site was quite a large archeological discovery with precious relics. Considering one of the most important archaeological sites in China, Jinsha site was found to date back to about 3,000 years ago, during the late Shang Dynasty (17th – 11th BC) to the early Spring and Autumn Period (770 BC – 476 BC). There at Jinsha Site Museum, you will see articles of Ivory, jade artifacts, bronze objects, gold objects, and caved stone objects exhibited. Tourists can watch 3D videos of the precious excavated objects at the 3D Theater in the museum.
