The history of Litchi Bay can be traced back to 2,200 years ago at the Western Han Dynasty when a notable chancellor called Lu Jia embarked on a diplomatic visit to the State of Yue and he ordered his fellows to plant the Litchi trees and dig up the lotus pond. This is how Litchi Bay got its name. Later more and more gardens and courtyards were built, and Litchi Bay has become one of the top site to see in Lingnan area.
