Introduction to Moon Hill (月亮山)
The Moon Hill is the most famous tourist site in Yangshuo. Its beautiful scenery and the surrounding charming idyllic landscapes, the Moon Hill is a must visit site for tourists travelling to Yangshuo.
The Moon Hill was named because of its a wide semicircular hole creating a natural arch on the hill from which the sky can be and resembles a full moon. The peak of the Moon Hill is accessible after walking a flight of 800 winding steps through the “Appreciating Moon Path”. Tourists can see the sky through the hole from different angles and capture the sight of the different shapes of the moon.
The Moon Hill is a typical karst mountain with many rocks. A series of karst caves can be found at Moon Hill, including the Black Buddha Cave, New Water Cave, and Dragon Cave. Stalactites and stalagmites of various shapes are the highlights of these karst caves.
The Moon Hill is also a great destination for mountain-climbing. There are 14 rock-climbing routes on the northwest side. When looking around from the hill, the gorgeous landscapes of mountains, rivers, fields, and villages are very enjoyable. The area around the Moon Hill is called ‘Ten Mile Gallery’ by locals and there is now a bicycle route for tourists to enjoy the natural scenery while cycling.
