Introduction to Mount Qingcheng

Mount Qingcheng is the birth place of Taoism and is one of the great mountains of Taoism in China. It is situated in Dujiangyan of Sichuan Province, about 68 kilometers northwest of Chengdu. The mountain is consisted of 36 peaks and has an elevation of 1,260 meters above sea level. With its lush forests and woods, Mount Qingcheng boasts as “the most peaceful and secluded mountain under heaven”. With its long history and religious background, Mount Qingcheng also attracts tourists for the many historical and cultural relics there. In 2,000, Mount Qingcheng was listed as one of the UNESCO World’s Heritage Sites.

Mount Qingcheng is especially charming for the fascinating natural scenery. Covered by luxuriant and verdant trees, Mount Qingcheng is an ideal place to escape from the heat and busy in the city. Mount Qincheng is divided into two main sections, the front mountain and back mountain. The front mountain is the main part of the scenic site and is home to many historical and cultural heritages, while the back mountain is bestowed with spectacular natural views and is popular for hiking.

With its fascinating natural scenery, Mount Qingcheng is much more popular for its historical and religious sites. It is a hot destination for a pilgrimage tour by many Taoists and Buddhists. Ancient temples of Taoist and Buddhist, and other historical relics are found in Mount Qincheng, among which the most popular ones are Tiansi Cave, Jianfugong Temple, Shangqinggong Temple, Zushi Temple, Laojunge Temple, Chaoyang Cave, Yuqinggong Temple, and Yuanminggong Temple.

Travel Tips 

1. Try to avoid visiting Mount Qingcheng during Golden Week and summer holidays where the crowds and number of visitors will be substantially higher than usual.
