Introduction to Rongbuk Monastery (绒布寺)
Rongpuk monastery, located at the Mt. Everset, is the highest monastery in the world, the elevation here is about 5200 m, almost the same height as the base camp of Mt. Everest. Rongbhuk monastery was built in 1899 by a Ningma- pa lama, once the number of lamas reached 500, but now only about 50 there, a strange phenomenon is that Lamas are living togethere with the nuns, some of them are from Nepal and Si king. Although it is small, it holds good influence over pilgrims, several monasteries in Nepal are affiliated to it. Rongbhuk monastery is the best position for watching and taking photoes of Mt. Everest.

Travel Tips
1. Besides China visas, several other documents are required for foreign visitors to enter Tibet. Tibet Travel Permit, Alien Travel Permit and Boarder Permit are also indispensable documents. These permits can only be applied by travel agencies on behalf of travellers and takes about 15-20 days.
2. Best season to visit: April and May when temperature, early September and late October. Among these days, only 20 days in total are ideal to conduct a visit.
3. There is only one available restaurant in Rongbuk Monastery Guesthouses providing limited variety of food and drinks. You are suggested to bring with some food before going to Mount Everest.
