Location

Beijing, located in the northern China, is the capital of People's Republic of China. Also it is the political, economic, cultural, educational and international trade and communication center of China. It is situated in the northwestern tip of the North China Plain and surrounded by Hebei Province and is close to Tianjin Municipality in the southeast. Beijing is the second largest city in China after Shanghai and is the most populous city in the world.

Geography and climate

Geography in Beijing is dominated by hills and plain. The western part of Beijing is mainly the Western Hills, the northwestern part is accounted by the Jundu mountains while the northwestern part of Beijing is dominated by the Great Wall. In the south-central urban area of Beijing lie the flat plains whose elevations are only 40-60 meters. 

Climate in Beijing belongs to continental climate which is featured with hot, humid summers and dry, windy, cold winters, short springs and autumns.
