Jiangsu province is located in the center of the eastern coast of China, lower reaches of the Yangtze River with a land area of 102,600 square kilometers. It adjoins Shandong Province to the north, Anhui to the west, Zhejiang and Shanghai to the south, and the Yellow Sea to its east. Nanjing is the capital city of Jiangsu Province.

Geography and Climate

Jiangsu is known as the land of fish and rice with 70 percent of its area occupied by low, flat plains and rivers. Most areas of Jiangsu count no more than 50 meters high, while the highest point of Jiangsu is only 625 meters. Jiangsu is also abundant with rivers, lakes and canals. The Yangtze River, Huai River, Lake Hongze , Lake Gaoyou, the Grand Canal and so on.

Jiangsu has a climate from humid subtropical monsoon to humid continental climate.


With a long history and a rich cultural heritage, Jiangsu possesses a great number of famous historic-cultural cities, such as Nanjing, Suzhou, Yangzhou, Zhenjiang, Changshu, Xuzhou and Huai'an. In the province, the national major famous scenic areas are Mt.Zhongshan, Tailm Lake, Mt.Yuntai and Shouxihu lake (slender West Lake),etc.Other famous scenic spots include Sun Yat-sen Mausoleum,the Han Terracotta Army in Xuzhou and Ancient Canal, etc.
