Beijing West was built in 1996 and has been revised several times. The station locates at Lianhuachi East Road.
Beijing West is one of the busiest train stations in Asia. The number of average daily passengers is 300 thousand. During peak period, it can reach 600 thousand. For those of you who are traveling to/from Beijing West, you had better leave enough time for boarding as the traffic nearby the train station can be really packed. For a very long time, Beijing West has been difficult to enter, difficult to exit, difficult for pick-up, and difficult to park. Since 2010, passengers can enter the station from both the south end and the north end which eases the situation.
Platforms 1 to 5 are for normal-speed trains (type T, Z, K); platforms 6 to 10 are for high-speed trains (type G and D). The high-speed train from Beijing to Guangzhou starts from this station.
