The Qingming Festival (Tomb Sweeping Day) is on the 104th day after the Winter solstice. During the festival,people will visit their ancestors’ burial grounds to to sweep the tombs, lay flowers and offer food, tea and wine.People burn joss paper goods and money,in Chinese culture,they consider their ancestors can use these burned items in the after life.

The weather of the Qingming Festival is warm and vibrant.The spring is coming, the sun shines brightly, the trees and grass become green and nature is again lively.The spring outings in Qingming Festival is the custom from ancient times.

Flying kite is one of the favorite activities in Qingming Festival,not only in the day,but also in the night.A string of little lanterns will be tied onto the kite and looks like shining stars,it’s called "the Magic Lamp."In the past, some people put the kite sky and then cut the string let them go,it’s said that the kite will take the bad luck.

Planting trees in Qingming Festival in another custom.Because of that ,people call the day "Arbor Day". But since 1979, "Arbor Day" was settled as March 12 according to the Gregorian calendar.
