Suantangyu (fish in sour soup, 酸汤鱼) is a specialty in Guizhou Province. It is a signature dish invented by Miao ethnic group. Miao people make the soup with local wild tomatoes which are much smaller in size than the ordinary ones. Laokaili (Old Kaili) restaurant is said to serve the best fish in sour soup in Guiyang city.
Kaili is the capital of Qiandongnan Miao and Dong Autonomous Prefecture, which is the hometown to this famous fish in sour soup. The fresh fish boiled in the spectacular sour soup just makes the perfectly balanced taste. You just cannot stop eating.
