The highway system offers convenient access to many parts of the country. The Xiangjiang River is open to traffic and many cities in Hunan and other provinces can be reached by this route. Huanghua International Airport operates both domestic and international air routes.
Get in Changsha
Changsha Huanghua International Airport is 24.2 kilometers east to the center of Changsha City, near Huanghua Town of Changsha County. It is the biggest airport with the most complete establishment in Hunan Province, with 39 direct flights to Beijing, Shanghai, Guangzhou, Hong Kong, and Bangkok, as well as non-stop flights to 53 cities including Beijing, Shanghai, Guangzhou, Shenzhen, Kunming and Chongqing.
There are special buses from the downtown to the airport, stops: Civil Aviation Hotel (No 75, Wuyidonglu) during 6:30 am to the last flight. One can also take public bus No.114 from railway station to Huanghua Airport. running time: 6:30 am to 16:30. One way: 65 minutes.
The railway system in Changsha is very convenient. Changsha is directly linked to many cities around the whole country. Changsha plays an important role in transportation around China, connecting Beijing-Guangzhou Railway and Shanghai-Kunming Railway. People can take trains from Changsha to Beijing, Shanghai, Guangzhou, Shenzhen, Shenyang, Xi’an, Kunming, Wuhan, Zhengzhou, Fuzhou, Nanning, Jinan and other cities. Changsha railway station is located in the downtown area, east end of Wuyi Road (五一大道); people can take No. 1, 7, 9, 12, 104, 107, 114, 117, 118, 127, 202, 312 and other buses to reach the station.
As for The high-speed train, you can go to the Changsha South Railway Station, located in Lituo County, Yuhua District, Changsha city, 9.5 kilometres away from the downtown area, and you can take bus No. 16, 63, 66, 124, 135, 159, 348, and 503 to the train station.
The expressways network across Hunan Province is well-developed and Changsha serves as one of the hubs. The city is ranked as one of the 45 main highway transportation hubs in China. National highway 107, from Beijing to Shenzhen and national highway 319 from Xiamen to Chengdu all pass Changsha.
There are three long distance bus stations: East Bus Station, West Bus Station and South Bus Station. The East and West Bus Stations are more convenient for travelers. The East Bus Station mainly served coaches to Hefei, Nanchang, Xiamen, Nanjing and Shanghai. The South Bus Station mainly served coaches to Guilin, and other cities and towns within the Hunan Province.
The first phase of Xianing's New Port in Changsha has been finished and has opened for use. Xiang River flows through Changsha, joining Dongting Lake and Yangtze River. Changsha now is in possession of the largest inside river port of China. By ship, people can travel from Changsha to Chongqing, Wuhan, Shanghai, Lianyungang, Nanjing and other cities. Moreover, regular ships from Changsha Passenger Ship Transportation Center can take people to Yiyang, Anxiang, Changde, Xiangtan, Xiangyin and Yueyang.

During the day, the flag-fall price for a taxi in Changsha is RMB 3 for 1 kilometer, with additional charges within three kilometers of: RMB 4 for 1 to 1.5 kilometers, RMB 5 for 1.5 to 2 kilometers, RMB 6 for 2 to 2.5 kilometers, and RMB 7 for 2.5 to 3 kilometers. RMB 1.8 is charged for each kilometer over three kilometers. At night (21:00pm – 05:00am), the charge is, within 3 kilometers, add RMB 1 onto the base of the daytime charge. Over 3 kilometers, the charge is RMB 2.16 for each kilometer.
Bus tickets are generally one yuan to two yuan, while bus tickets of sightseeing buses are three yuan and you can use the ticket twice. With the three sightseeing routes, you can visit such attractions as Yuelu Hill Scenic Area & Yuelu Academy and Hunan Provincial Museum.
