Introduction to Yuelu Mountian (岳麓山)
located in the western suburbs of Changsha,Yuelu Mountain is one of 72 mountains in the Heng Mountain area. It's one of famous Changsha attractions, and home to977 plant species, including several thousand-year-old yew podocarpus, ginkgo and lisong trees. When autumn comes, the maples turn red and tangerine trees bear fruit, making the Yuelu Mountain beautiful and become a picturesque.
Located at the foot of Yuelu Mountain,the original name of Aiwan Pavilion was Hongye Pavilion. This pavilion was built during the reign of Emperor Qianlong in the Qing Dynasty and got its name from the poem by Du Mu. The Pavilion is elegant and of primitive simplicity.It faces to the east and is surrounded by hills on the other three sides.
Lushan Temple is renowned as the "first key point of interest from Han and Wei Dynasties", "the most sacred temple in Hunan province".Located at the ancient forest of Yuelu Mountain,Lushan Temple was built in Western Jin Dynasty. As one of the most ancient temples in Hunan Province,it enjoys great fame in the region.
Yunlu Palace is a Taoist place. Yunlu Palace was built in A.D.1478.The history of Taoist activities in Yuelu Mountain is quite long. Yuelu Mountain has been an active center since then.
The Flying Clock hangs in a ginkgo tree near Yunlu Palace. Flying Stone lies under the Flying Clock. The Flying Clock and Flying Stone are also famous attractions in Yuelu Mountain.
Under the Tablet is Yuji Brook. Yu was an ancient hero who conquered floods.
