Introduction to Golden Bauhinia Square (金紫荆广场) Golden Bauhinia Square is located next to Hong Kong Convention and Exhibition Center. It was built to commemorate the reunification of China and Hong Kong. In July 1, 1997, HKSAR was established, the central government give Hong Kong a Golden Bauhinia statue as gift. Golden Bauhinia statue was placed next to the Convention Center, facing the sea, this square has also been named as the Golden Bauhinia Square. The formal name of this 6 meters high bronze statue is"Forever Blooming Bauhinia", meaning Hong Kong will prosper forever. in the corner of Golden Bauhinia Square still stands a 20 meters high Reunification Monument. The Monument was stacked by the 206 stone plates, each stone plate represente each year from 1842 to 2047. Golden Bauhinia Square, surrounded by the harbor on three sides and in the center of Victoria Harbour. Tsim Sha Tsui is on the other side, it is a good place for viewing in Hong Kong. |
