Introduction to Ngong Ping 360 (昂坪360)

Ngong Ping Cable Car has already become one of Hong Kong’s must visit tourist attractions located on Lantau Island of Hong Kong. The environment is known to have preserved the natural ecological features of the Ngong Ping area. Experience the great outdoors and learn about the customs and cultures of Ngong Ping. One of the highlights of Ngong Ping is its 5.7 kilometer cable car journey from Tung Chung to Ngong Ping on Lantau Island. During the cable car journey visitors can enjoy the magnificent view of Hong Kong Airport, South China Sea and the Tian Tan Buddha.

Adjacent to the Ngong Ping Cable Car Terminal, Ngong Ping Village is an impressive cultural themed village. In addition to the village there is also other fun activities available such as Motion 360, Stage 360, Walking with Buddha and Li Nong Teahouse.

For a more cultural and religious experience, the world's tallest seated outdoor bronze Buddha, the Tian Tan Buddha Statue, is only a short stroll from the Ngong Ping Village. Tian Tan Buddha Statue is the major centre for Buddhism in Hong Kong and is located next to the Po Lin Monastery.

Things to do in Ngong Ping and Lantau Island

Ngong Ping Cable Car connects Tung Chung and Ngong Ping. The 5.7km cable car journey offers visitors spectacular 360 degree panoramic views of South China Sea, Hong Kong International Airport, North Lantau Country Park and Giant Buddha.

Equipped with a glass bottom, the all new Ngong Ping 360 Crystal Cabin is designed to feast your eyes with an astonishing bird's eye view. Feel the magic of the boundless sea and the rolling grassland slopes right underneath your feet.

It is located at Ngong Ping, Lantau Island, a large bronze statue of a Buddha Amoghasiddhi, also known as big buddha, completed in 1993.

The Buddha is 34 metres (112 ft) tall, weighs 250 tons. You need to climb 268 steps to reach the Buddha, there is a small winding road to the Buddha for vehicles to accommodate the handicapped.

Know as the "Buddhist Kingdom in the South". Po Lin Monastery is the most popular Buddhist temple in HK. The world's largest outdoor Buddha at the Po Lin Monastery becomes a site of Pilgrimage and is visited by Buddhists' from all over the world.

There are 3 floors beneath the Buddha statue: The Hall of Universe, The Hall of Benevolent Merit, and The Hall of Remembrance. One of the most renowned features inside is a relic of Sakyamuni, consisting of some of his alleged cremated remains.

It is set on a 1.5 hectare site on Lantau Island, adjacent of Ngong Ping Cable Car Terminal and the Tian Tan Buddha Statue. This amazing cultural themed village has been architecturally designed and landscaped to reflect the cultural and spiritual integrity of the Ngong Ping area.

Tai O, was once the largest inhabited settlement on Lantau Island. The village's stilt houses on the waterfont, offer a glimpse into Hong Kong's past and provide a striking contrast with the modern city.

In Tai O, local people offer a boat ride of Pink Dolphin Tours. The boat tour takes you through the fishing village and out to the China Sea. No tour can guarantee that you will see the dolphins, the best time is June, July and August. You might see dolphins, jimping out of the water.

Tai O Boat Excursion Operating Hours: 10am – 5:30pm, each boat journey is approx 20 minutes.
