Introduction to Aberdeen Fishing Village(香港仔渔村) Aberdeen Fishing Village is also known as Aberdeen Floating Village is located on the south coast of Hong Kong Island. There was an estimated 600 fishing junks at the harbor where approximately 6,000 people reside. The village has been an important fishing port of Hong Kong since the 19th century and still continues to supply seafood with growing demand for seafood from the tourism industry. However, over the past 20 years the number of fishing villagers has declined and many of the residents have moved onshore. One of the highlights of visiting Aberdeen Fishing Village is of course tasting the fresh seafood cuisine. There are many boat restaurants that serve traditionally prepared seafood which is popular with tourists. One of the most famous restaurants of Hong Kong is also located at Aberdeen Harbor which is the Jumbo Kingdom floating restaurant. Whilst visiting the fishing village taking a visit to Jumbo Kingdom is a must. The amazing floating restaurant has the most magnificent appearance of a extravagant palace on the sea. The restaurant has also attracted famous members of the family and of course Hollywood’s biggest film stars. Apart from delicious seafood you can also go on a sightseeing tour on the traditional sampans. You can also visit the local seafood market and get a glimpse of the thriving seafood trade that still exists at Aberdeen Harbor. |
