Jiaohe ruins

The Jiaohe ruins, is 10km west of Turpan and on top of a 30m high cliff. It is surrounded by water. The shape of the ruins is like the shape of a willow leaf. It is around 1650m from south to north, and a width of 300m. It used to be the capital of the cheshibu kingdom, built earlier than the Qing dynasty, date back 2000-2300 years ago. The Cheshi People is also known as Gushi, they are the earliest people to settle here, the buildings are unique and interesting, it is the oldest, the biggest and the most well preserved mud building city in the world. The ruin has a road in the middle which divides the ruin into the eastern district and the western district.
