Introduction to Nanjing Road
Nanjing Road is located in Huangpu District of Shanghai and is one of the busiest streets in China where an estimated 1,700,000 people visit the street each day. Nanjing Road is said to be the world’s longest shopping district at an estimated 5.5 kilometers. The history of Nanjing Road dates back to 1845 when it was originally named Park Lane. Nanjing Road was first the British Concession and then it was transformed into an International Settlement. With large volumes of imported foreign goods, it became one of the earliest shopping streets in Shanghai. Today Nanjing Road is separated into two sections Nanjing Road East and Nanjing Road West. |
