Introduction to Shanghai Museum (上海博物馆)
Shanghai Museum was founded in 1952 at its original location at the old Shanghai Race Club on West Nanjing Road. In 1959 the museum was relocated to Zhonghui Building at 16 South Henan Road. By 1992 the Shanghai Municipal Government decided to relocate the museum to Peoples Square which is at the center of the city. Today, Shanghai Museum has a great collection of 140,000 relics that includes bronze items, ceramics, paintings and calligraphy. |
