Introduction to Oriental Pearl Tower

The Oriental Pearl Tower is one of the top landmarks of Shanghai and is located along the prestigious Lijiazui of Pudong New Area which is located at the side of the Huangpu River directly opposite The Bund. Between 1994 – 2007 The Oriental Pearl Tower was the tallest building in China standing at 468 meters. This record was then beaten by the Shanghai World Financial Center in 2007. The Oriental Pearl Tower is made up of three spheres known as the Space Module, Upper sphere and lower sphere. The tower faces the historical European buildings along The Bund across the Huangpu River.

The highlights of the Oriental Pearl Tower is that it’s made up of a total of 11 spheres. The two largest spheres have a diameter of 50 meters, the lower and upper sphere both have a diameter of 45 meters. The spheres are linked by three columns, each 9 meters in diameter. The highest sphere is 14 meters in diameter. The entire tower is supported by three large columns.

The Oriental Pearl Tower has 15 levels for sightseeing where visitors can choose different heights to enjoy view. The Space Cabin is located 350 meters above ground and the Revolving restaurant is 267 meters above the ground and is the highest restaurant in Asia.
