Introduction to Huaqing Pool Huaqing Pool (Huaqing Hot Springs) is situated at the foot of Mount Li approximately 25 kilometers from Xian and has been the imperial bathing pools since the Tang Dynasty. Huaqing Pool is a part of Huaqing Palace which dates back to the Zhou Dynasty, which was over 3,000 years ago. During the Han Dynasty the site was expanded and by the Tang Dynasty, Emperor Xuanzhong had a Palace built around Mount Li. The Huaqing Pool was where Emperor Xuanzhong preferred to spend winter with his favorite consort Yang Guifei who was one of the Four Beauties of China. The romantic love story of Emperor Xuanzong and Yang Guifei still appeals to many tourists. The Huaqing Pool consists of many charming scenic areas. The most famous sights are Nine Dragon Pool, Lotus Flower Pool and Frost Drifting Hall. The Nine Dragon Pool was an artificial pool built in 1959 that occupies 5,300 square meters. As the most spectacular attraction in Huaqing Pool, the Nine Dragon Pool is decorated with lotus flowers floating on the surface of the water and a white marble statue of Yang Guifei standing by the lake. The surrounding sites include Frost Drifting Hall, Yichun Hall, Chengxiang Hall are located near the Nine Dragon Pool. Apart from the Huaqing Hot Springs there is also a very enchanting garden with pavilions, bridges, and willow trees. There are also cultural heritages like calligraphy and inscriptions to enjoy. |

The easiest way to reach Huaqing Pool is to take a free shuttle bus service from Xian North Railway Station, however you must have a valid train ticket on that day of arrival and entrance tickets for any tourist attraction in Lintong before you are allowed to baord the bus. 2.
