Travel By Train to the Mysterious Tibet

In many travellers’ eyes, Tibet is their wonderland with pure sceneries and devout believe. In the past years, Maybe Tibet is just a remote dream. The poor transportation and the appalling high altitude made people hesitate to step on this splendid and amazing land. Nowadays, people can choose a lot of ways to go to Tibet. You can not only take flights or cars but can also go to Tibet by train to pursue the dreams.

The railway, which called” The Qinghai-Tibet railway”, is one of the four major projects in the west development of the new century in China. By extending 1,956 kilometers, the railway runs from Xining (capital of Qinghai province) to Lhasa (capital of Tibet province).

The 1,956-km Qinghai-Tibet railway line, which will run from Xining, capital of northwest Qinghai Province, to Lhasa, Tibetan capital, will give a big impetus to the development of tourism in Tibet. The Qinghai-Tibet railway is the world's highest and longest plateau railway line. It is become a landmark of the railway history of China.

Scenery on the railway:

1. Yuzhu Mountain

Yuzhu Mountain is 6,178 meters above the sea level which besieged by snow-covered peaks. The Qinghai-Tibet Highway passed through this desolate and original area. The scenery of Yuzhu Mountain is really spectacular.

2. The Hohxil Region
Hoh Xil, which means "beautiful girl" in Mongolian, it is China's largest and the world's third largest uninhabited area. Being the paradise for wildlife and home to more than 230 species of wild animals, Hoh Xil is not just the last fairyland of wild lives in China but also primitive and well-preserved natural environment in the world. You can see the wild squirrels, dears, yaks in this land, If you are lucky enough, sometimes Tibetan antelopes or even brown bear are can be seen in this area.

3. Tuotuo River
Tuotuo River is the main sources of Yangtze River, lies in Qinghai Province. As it is known Yangtze River is the longest river in China. Originated from the snowy mountains, the melt water flowing from glaciers shapes the sources of Yangtze River. There are some huge snow mountains around the Tuotuo River, making the river looks more beautiful.

4. Tsonag Lake
Tsonag Lake is one of the highest fresh water lakes, located in northern Tibet. Its area is approximately 300 square kilometers, and it is at 4594 meters above sea level. The train will travels along the Tsonag Lake, when the sun shines, the whole lake becomes a huge blue planet.

With its comfortable beds and good foods on the train, you can appreciate out the window and view stunning landscapes unfold like paintings along the railway. As the railroad traverses lots of snowy mountain ranges and via many rivers and lakes, the sceneries along the Qinghai-Tibet railway to the Roof of the World are very beautiful. Moreover, the train also provides well-equipped medical oxygen pipe in case if someone has altitude sickness.  Taking train to Tibet has another advantage, if you go to Tibet by train, you can adapt your body to the high plateau environment gradually. Then you can relieve or avoid high altitude sickness.
