Wandering in the ocean of peach blossom in Linzhi

Lying in the lower reaches of Yarlung Tsangpo River, Nyingchi is known as the "Switzerland of Tibet" because of its semi-humid climate and fascinating scenery. It embraces spring earlier than the rest of the region. When most areas are still freezing cold in March, Nyingchi has already turned into a sea of peach blossoms.

Each March, when the snow-capped mountains still sparkle in the horizon, the valleys and hills of Linzhi have been colonized by a sea of pink, red and white peach blossoms. The mild Linzhi gradually has turned into a sea of peach blossoms. Wild peach trees grow well almost everywhere on both sides along the Nyang River. Looking at a distance, it appears that snowy mountains are embracing huge layers of pink clouds. And the best viewing spot for peach blossom is right at the Gala Valley. Set against the Snow Mountains and blue sky, the scene is simply breathtaking. The wild peach trees thrive here feature twisted and thick branches, which are covered by multiple-layers of tiny and numerous flowers.

Gala Valley--Kasimu Village--Daze Village is the trip route that most visitors would like to choose. Extending for 60 kilometers, this route is most ideal for peach blossom fans. It is definitely a good choice to travel around by bike to take a closer look at the beautiful scenes . Bikes are rentable at Bayi Town, around 50 yuan per day.

The Gala Valley, designated as the main venue for the 2011 Peach Blossom Cultural & Tourism Festival, is the first stop along this route. Apart from a sea of peach blossoms, visitors will also get the chance to know about the unique Tibetan ethnic culture, such as the native singing and dancing performances. Then, visitors are advised to drive directly towards Kasimu Village.

During the drive, you will be indulged in the roadside picturesque scenery, cattle farm, lines of willows...the road is known as the most beautiful road in Nyingchi.

The second stop--Kasimu Village, is legible with a winding mountain path in front of the Nyingchi Primary School, also the gateway to the village. You will again have your eyes feasted on the densely grown peach trees there.

The terminal of this route is Daze Village, at the entrance of the Nyang River Scenic Spot. It takes about half an hour to walk from Kasimu to Daze. During the festival period, visitors will be able to experience the drifting along the Nyang River, a 10-kilometer adventure on the water.

Nyingchi is the hottest destination in spring because of the annual peach blossom festival. To attract more visitors, a peach blossom festival is celebrated annually since 2003. And the Nyingchi Peach Blossom Festival has become one of the most important tour events in Tibet, attracting millions of tourists every year. The 12th Nyingchi Peach Blossom Festival, themed by "meet in Nyingchi, look for the most beautiful spring", will kick off on March 26 and last till the end of April.

Travelers will be amazed by the picturesque scenery of gorgeous peach blossoms with snow-capped mountains in the background. It is a romantic place for dating and wedding photography.
