20th April Tragedy Strikes Ya’an


On the 20th April, 8.02am Beijing time, Ya’an was struck by an earthquake measuring 7 on the Richter scale. The disaster has been the most severe since the earthquake in Wenchuan back in 2008. The current death toll stands at 196 with 21 people still missing and a total of 15,554 injured. An estimated 1,992,894 people have been affected and 233,191 have been relocated. Rescue efforts and clear up operations are still ongoing in Ya’an. Our sympathy and condolences go out to all those affected by the earthquake and respect for all rescue workers for their continuous rescue efforts.
