6th UNWTO International Meeting on Silk Road Tourism
The 6th UNWTO International Meeting on Silk Road tourism was hosted from the 1st to 3rd August in Dunhuang of Gansu province. Those who attended the event were: UNWTO, China National Tourism Administration (CNTA) and Gansu Province. The event was also organized in collaboration with the China Chamber of Commerce.
The aim of the meeting was to discuss the improvement of the Silk Road tourism and brought experts in the fields of tourism, marketing, investment and heritage management together to talk about how to increase the awareness of Silk Road tourism. The meeting included discussion of issues such as how to further develop and enhance the Silk Road as a tourist destination and the future trends for region as a whole. Moreover, increasing the extensive network of destinations and how to protect these heritage sights were on the top of the agenda list.
