Silk Road Grand Canal Enlisted as UNESCO Heritage Sites


On 22nd June 2014, UNESCO World Heritage Committee announced the addition of the Silk Road and Grand Canal as new UNESCO Heritage Sites. This is China’s 46th and 47th listings on the World Heritage Site roster, as well as its 32nd and 33rd World Cultural Heritage designations, on Sunday when the World Heritage Committee approved at the UNESCO conference in Doha, Qatar.

The total number of Heritage Sites in China have now reached 47 ranking in second place, Italy is ranked first place with 50 sites.
