Mongolian cuisine is influenced by its bordering of China and Russia, therefore Mongolian Cuisine is influenced by both Chinese and Russian cuisine. Due to its climate Mongolian cuisine mainly consists of meats and dairy products. The most well known dishes of Mongolian Cuisine are the barbecued meats and fermented milk. Due to the long winter season meats and dairy are usually dried and stored during the warmer months.

The most common meats used in Mongolian cuisine are mutton, beef, camel and yak. Meats are usually prepared either by barbecue or used in dumplings, soups or simply boiled in water. Vegetables are not a major part of Mongolian cuisine due to climate therefore vegetables are only seasonal. As for the dairy products they are dried to make yoghurt, curd, cheese and Mongolian milk vodka.
