Tibetan Zanba

Tibetan Zanba
When you travel to Tibet, you will find there is a kind of food called Zanba always served in the table. Zanba is one of the traditional staple food for Tibetan people, people there eat Zanba every day. Zanba means chow mein in Tibetan language, so Zanba is actually a kind of Qingke chow mein.

Zanba is easy and convenient to make. Grind roasted highland qingke barley into flour, then mix it with ghee. Add some water and combine all the ingredients until they become thick. Then knead the mixture into dough balls and it can be served. The convenience to make and carry make Zanba a necessity when Tibetan people go out for pasture. They usually bring some Zanba and yak butter tea when going out for travelling or working. Zanba is also a part of Tibetan culture.
