Located in northern Zhejiang Province, China, Wuzhen is part of Tongxiang and one of the best historical & cultural towns. Wuzhen is also a national 5A scenic area. It lies within the triangle area formed by Hangzhou, Suzhou and Shanghai. Covering an area of 71.19 square kilometers, Wuzhen has a total population of 60,000 and 12,000 are permanent residents. Wuzhen has convenient transportation with a number of expressways and national highways.
Wuzhen has been on the the UNESCO’s World Cultural Heritage List and named as the first PATA eco-tourism destination in Mainland China. The ancient Beijing-Hangzhou Grand Canal flows across the town and divides the Wuzhen Town into four areas, Dongzha, Xizha, Nanzha, and Beizha. Wuzhen has never changed its name, waterways, or way of life since its foundation in 872 A.D. The ancient buildings remain the same even after hundreds years.
