Yichang is a prefecture-level city in Hubei Province. It is located in western Hubei Province, at the northern bank of the Yangtze River. Yichang is an ancient city which can be dated back to 4,000 years ago. Because of its strategic importance in history, there are many famous battles took place in Yichang.
With the Three Gorges Dam Project and Gezhouba Water Conservancy Project located there, Yichang has become the largest hydroelectric resource center in China.
