Yushu Tibetan Autonomous Prefecture is located in the southwestern of Qinghai Province. It lies at the hinterland of Qinghai-Tibet Plateau with an average elevation of 3,600 meters and an occupation of 188,794 square kilometers. Yushu is largely inhabited by Tibetans and most of the inhabitants are Kham people.
