On 8th January, 2018, French president Emmanuel Macron arrived in Xian along with his wife Brigitte Macron for his three day state visit. During his visit the French president along with the first lady visited Xian’s most famous attractions the Terracotta Army and Big Wild Goose Pagoda. FIRST STOP:
TERRACOTTA ARMY
Terracotta Army
Xian Map Upon arrival in Xian, the French president and first lady made a visit to the Terracotta Warriors. Terracotta Army, also known as Terracotta Warriors and Horses, is one of the most famous tourist attractions in China. Reputed as the World’s Eighth Great Wonder, the Terracotta Army is the most significant excavations of the 20th century.
SECOND STOP:
WILD GOOSE PAGODA
Wild Goose Pagoda
Xian Map The French president then made his way to the Wild Goose Pagoda which was a change to his original schedule. Located in the compound of the Daci’en Temple the magnificent architecture is the well preserved Buddhist pagoda, the Big Wild Goose Pagoda is considered a landmark of Xian and dates back to the Tang Dynasty.
THIRD STOP:
FORBIDDEN CITY
Forbidden city
Xian Map After Xian, the president and first lady made their way to Beijing where they were greeted by China’s President. On the 9th January, 2018, Macron and his wife visited the Forbidden City where they were accompanied by French historian expert Patrice Fava and students from a French international school.
