Chaoyang Tower was constructed in the 22nd year of Hongwu reign in Ming Dynasty. It has a history of 600 years. Located in the center of Jianshui County, Chaoyang Tower serves as the landmark of the ancient Jianshui County.

Chaoyang Tower covers an area of 2,312 square meters. It is 77 meters long in the north and south direction, 26 meters wide in the east and west directions. Styled in the Ming Dynasty, Chaoyang has four gates, including Yinhui Gate in the east, Fuan Gate in the South, Qingyuan Gate in the West and Yongzhen Gate in the north. Its flying eaves, delicate paintings and carvings, splendid and magnificence, makes Chaoyang Tower a popular place of interest in Jianshui County.

There are plaques with huge handwritings hanging in all directions of Chaoyang Tower. Handwritings hanging in the front door are as huge as two meters. There is an old clock hanging in the upper storey. The clock is from ancient Ming Dynasty in the size of two meters high and 3,400 jin heavy. Copper bells hang in the corners of all the eaves, whenever breeze comes over, melodious rings in the wind are so pleasant to enjoy. Those delicate carvings in the tower gate with rich themes and vivid images are of great architectural art values.

Chaoyang Tower was included as national key cultural relics protection unit in 2006. Now it is one of the major attractions in Jianshui.
