Hangzhou Buddhist Academy
Introduction to Hangzhou Buddhist Academy
Located inside the Fajing Temple, Hangzhou Buddhist Academy or Hangzhou Institute of Buddhist Studies is a province-level buddhist academy.
Hangzhou Buddhist Academy was previously named Hangzhou Martial Buddhist Academy built by Juzan master in the year of 1947. But it was unfortunately forced to suspend classes in the end of 1948 because of no funds resulted from the fierce wars at home.
In 2005, it was officially renamed as Hangzhou Buddhist Academy by the State Administration for Religious Affairs. Then there was a Buddhist Arts Institute as one of the three institutes set up in the Academy in 2010. The academy is aimed at training talents with strong sense of social responsibility and love of their country and religion. There are three main institutes in the Academy including Buddhist Art Institute, Hangzhou Buddhist Academy Teaching Institute and Research Institute.
