Introduction to Mount Huashan
Mount Huashan is located in Huayin city of Shaanxi Province, which is approximately 120 kilometers from Xian. Mount Huashan is considered one of the Five Sacred Mountains of China and is known for its beautiful natural scenery and steep cliffs and mountain ranges. Mount Hushan consists of five peaks with the South Peak being the highest at an elevation of 2,154 meters above sea level. Climbing or hiking Mount Huashan is often a challenge, although there are designated trails the steepness of the mountain makes the hike more dangerous.
Mount Hushan was once famous as the most influential location for Taoist monasteries. Famous Taoist temples of Mount Huashan are Jade Spring Temple and Xiyue Temple. The Jade Spring Temple was first built during the Northern Song Dynasty to honor the famous scholar Chen Tuan. Jade Spring Temple is the start of the hiking trail of the north peak and is located to the south of Huashan Village. Xiyue Temple is located at the foot of Mount Huashan and dates back to the Western Han Dynasty and was built for sacrifices to the God of the Mountains.

1. To reach Mount Huashan the most convenient way is to set out from Xian and take a high-speed train from Xian North Railway Station to Huashan North Railway Station. Once you arrive there are free mini bus services that transfer tourists to Mount Huashan.
1. Try to avoid visiting during the summer holidays and Golden Week in October as it will be extremely crowded.
2. Dress comfortably and suitable shoes are vital as you will be walking and hiking for the day.
