Introduction to Wuhou Temple (武侯祠)
Wuhou Temple is one of the most famous tourist sites in Chengdu. It is located in southern suburb of Chengdu. The Wuhou Temple, also known as the Temple of Marquis, was first built during the Tang Dynasty and was rebuilt in 1672. Wuhou Temple was first constructed to be dedicated to Zhuge Liang, who is a famous historic figure in China and was the chancellor and military strategist of the Shu Kingdom during the Three Kingdoms Period. The temple is also dedicated to Liu Bei, the emperor of Shu as it was first built next to the temple of Liu Bei and the two temples were combined during the Ming Dynasty. |
