It's very well known February 14th is the western Valentines day. However, China’s Valentines Day is on the 7th day of the 7th lunar month. On this day it is said that the romance can be seen in the beautiful starlit sky.
Legend has it that on this day Niu Lang and Zhi Nu will meet on a bridge of Magpies across the milky way. Only allowing to meet once a year on this very day, today this day is celebrated by many couples to commemorate Niu Lang and Zhi Nu.
People will sit outdoors to observe the stars in the evening. Most Chinese grannies will tell their grandchildren that if you stand by a grapevine in the night, you can probably overhear that Zhi Nu and Niu Lang are talking sweet words to each other.
