Chong Yang Festival is celebrated on September 9 of the Chinese lunar calendar and is also known as the "Double Ninth Festival”. It’s one of the four traditional Chinese ancestor worship festivals. Dating back to Warring States period and officially designated as folk festivals in Tang Dynasty, has a history of more than 2,000 years.
During the festival,family get together and climb mountain to "avoid bad luck", wear cornel,appreciate the beauty of chrysanthemum, drink chrysanthemum wine, and eat double-ninth cakes.The festival is also called “Old Men Festival”. There are many activities old people taking part in in order to improve their health. It’s also a time people cherish the memory of their ancestors, sweeping the tomb, offering food, burning paper money, clothes and necessities for them.
