Capital Museum

The Capital Museum has extensive collections of cultural artifacts gathered over several decades. It currently has 250,000 exhibition articles including bronze ware, chinaware, paintings and calligraphic works, stone carvings, coins, jade articles, imperial seals, embroidery, Buddhist statues and folk artwork.

The most distinctive feature of the Capital Museum is its focus on the transformation and development of Beijing and telling the story of an ancient Chinese city with a multi-dimensional interpretation involving such aspects as geography, folk customs and antiques. Permanent exhibitions at the Capital Museum include:

Ancient Capital - History and Culture
Ancient Capital Beijing - Urban Construction
Old Stories of Beijing - Exhibition of Old Beijing Folk Customs.

The core purpose of the exhibitions is to illustrate Beijing's rich history and culture. The exhibitions are like history books that can help tourists learn more about Beijing.

In addition to the above, other permanent exhibitions at the Museum include seven exhibitions on the Fine Art of Ancient Chinaware, Bronzeware, Calligraphy, Paintings, Jade Ware, Buddhist Statues and fine articles of the scholar’s study.

Temporary exhibitions provide a platform for research into and appreciation of the exchanges and relationship between Beijing culture and that of other countries and regions, as well as between Chinese and world cultures.

Getting to Beijing Capital Museum

Take Subway Line 1 and getting off at Muxidi Station. Leave taking C1 Exit and walk 200 meters straight ahead to the museum.
