Shuhe Ancient Town
Shuhe means "village under the foot of mountain" in Naxi language for there are mountain peaks behind the village.Shuhe ancient town is one of the earliest settlements of Naxi people in Lijiang,the best preserved ancient town locateded on the the Tea Horse Road.
Shuhe ancient town is an important part of the World Heritage Lijiang Old Town.It was praised as "China charming historical town" by CCTV in 2005.Shuhe ancient town is the core scenic region of Lijiang.It's a must-pass no matter going to Lijiang ancient town,Yulong Snow Mountain or Lugu Lake or the first gulf of Yangtze River,the Three Parallel Rivers Scenic.
Located in northwest of Lijiang ancient town,Shuhe ancient town is a peaceful village and has a reputation of Clear Spring Village.Shuhe ancient town has an amazing scenery surrounded by the green mountains and beautiful rivers,overlooking the Jade Dragon Mountain from north and capturing the view of Elephant Hill in south.
Shuhe ancient town has the best-preserved tea-horse road which is a famous tea-trading route in ancient China.Along this road there are rich cultural resources like ancient stone bridge, smooth stone road as well as saddles, horse bell, horse lantern, leather bags, butter barrels and goods from India, Nepal, Tibet.
