MTR Service in Hong Kong

In Hong Kong, MTR operates a domestic railway network with 174.7km of track covering 82 stations on 9 main commuter lines: Kwun Tong, Tsuen Wan, Island, Tung Chung, Tseung Kwan O, East Rail, West Rail, Ma On Shan and Disneyland Resort lines.

The number of interchange stations has been expanded to 19 in order to provide convenient transfer points between separate lines.

Service hours on Holidays

MTR service is extented to 24 hours operation during the holiday season for the convenience of passengers travelling around Hong Kong for celebration.

Intercity Passenger Service

Kowloon-Guangzhou Through Train
An inter-city railway service between Hong Kong and Guangzhou jointly operated by the MTR Corporation of Hong Kong and the Ministry of Railways of the People's Republic of China. Services operate along the East Rail Line within Hong Kong territory, crossing the Hong Kong-Chinese border at Lo Wu, and continuing along the Guangshen Railway in Guangdong province.
The Kowloon-Guangzhou Through Train calls at Changping, Guangzhou East, Foshan and Zhaoqing. There are currently twelve pairs of through trains running between Hung Hom and Guangzhou East daily, in which 10 northbound trains and 10 southbound trains call at Changping, with a total journey time of about 2 hours. One calls at Foshan and terminates at Zhaoqing with a total journey time of about 4 hours.  The Kowloon-Guangzhou Through Train sevice started from 5 October 1911.
